Digging In…
What a beautiful day - Saturday May 6, 2023. And the weather - was nearly perfect.
Some of you attended the Canal Winchester Area Historical Society Gala in all-out 1940’s attire (nod to Matt & Anita!)…Rosie the Riveter(s) could be “spotted” throughout the event…the professional re-enactor’s camp lended authenticity to the grounds…The Everly Sisters embodied the Andrew Sisters…and JoyUnspeakable (our Statue Man) was the exclamation point!
…the committee who formulated and worked, the City who manicured the grounds, the individuals and businesses who generously donated items for the auctions, the city and state representatives and the architects and sponsors who officially “Broke Ground” for the reconstitution of the O.P. Chaney Grain Elevator all deserve a big “Thank You!”.
And on top of that, a nod has to be given to every single person who attended and joined in the fundraising. The trustees of the Canal Winchester Area Historical Society give a shout-out to all of you.
Fundraising is faceted. And let’s face it - tricky. We are asking you to put trust in the purpose and the process we are pursing…we are asking for you to share our vision…we are asking you to “dig in” with us to help provide opportunities for others; others in the near future and beyond.
To restore the O.P. Chaney Elevator, The Historical Society will need to raise another 3.5 million dollars. The “Complex” as it has been called to date is owned and operated by The Canal Winchester Area Historical Society - not by the City (although the City does much to help support and maintain our grounds and properties).
Gratefully, The Gala was a successful springboard into our fundraising journey; with the help and support of many of you.
And we continue to dream - and plan - and work.
We would love for you to keep digging in with us…Together We Can Do It!
